Frederick Douglass: A One Man Play
Written & Performed by James Charles Roberts (copyright 1981)
Based on Douglass' 1881 autobiography The Life and Times of Frederick Douglass.  The drama traces is life from his early years as a slave on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and concludes with the end of the Civil War and the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.
A Philadelphia native and Temple University School of Communication graduate, Mr. Roberts has performed this production in many locations along the East Coast of the United States ever since its debut at the National Park Service's Second Bank of Philadelphia site in 1982.
Frederick Douglass is available for touring in virtually any size venue.
